Axel's Broken Arm
So if you are going to break something you might as well do it doing something fun. On January 30, Axel broke his arm playing football at the church. Some of the older kids had been playing with the group and one of them stepped on Axel's arm. He broke both bones in his right arm near the wrist. Everything happened so fast that Thom left to take him to the hospital while everybody else was looking for me. I have to say that our group of friends are awsome. Our friend Shawn took me to the hospital while his wife took care of Caytlynne. Shawn works at the hospital so he helped Axel with his X-rays. We have friends that are PAs at the orthopedics office here in town so they have taken great care of Axel. Axel received several get well cards and packages from his friends and our children's minister. The pictures that are below are from when Axel got his cast on Feb. 06. We have one more set of x-rays to do this week and if all is well Axel will have three more weeks in his cast. It will come off just in time for baseball.
Axel's Birthday
On Axel's Birthday we were flew back home, so it wasn't too much fun for him. We did go out to dinner with Daddy that night but that was about it. The next weekend we had some of his friends come over for pizza, football, and to play Wii. Can you believe that they didn't get to play the Wii because the big boys (Thom, Shawn, and Mike) were playing. That is just wrong. I made homemade pizza, antipasta salad, and chicken bites. I didn't get to enjoy our friends or the party because I was cooking, but they seem to have a good time. We didn't get any pictures either because both batteries were dead in our cameras. He had a great time and received several different additions to his Star Wars Lego collection.
Birthday Party at Grandma's
My mom hates that she has to miss the kid's birthdays because we live so far away. So while we were visiting we had a birthday party to celebrate the birthdays of my Dad, Axel, and Caytlynne. All three birthdays are close together so it was fun. The kids were excited because we were having another party! My dad got the final addition to his James Bond movie collection. Axel received another addition to his Star Wars Lego collection and Caytlynne got Polly Pockets. The Polly Pockets were a huge hit. She played with them non-stop the last couple of days we were there. She still plays with them on regular basis.
Happy New Year 2008
The kids and I were in Colorado for New Years Eve. My mom has always made an effort to make things special for our visits. We had a big New Year's Eve party at the house with lots of food, hats, streamers, and horns. Caytlynne was tickeled with her horn. She could only get enough air each time to blow it once.
Since we were already messed up with the time difference we celebrated midnight on Eastern time. Once midnight came back home (10:00 mountain time) we called Daddy at his party and wished him Happy New Year. Then we went to bed. Funny how the parties change once you get older and have kids. Happy New Year!
2007 Christmas Morning
I have to say the we had a blessed Christmas. The kids were thrilled with their gifts from Santa. Axel got a Wii and Caytlynne got her Leapster. We had a wonderful day with our family of friends. Mike's mother comes from and Italian background and so the feast was huge. It started with shrimp cocktail then we had Italian Wedding Soup. Shortly after that we had homemade lasagna, raviolis, sauce (they call it gravy), italian sausage, ribs, meatballs, and kelbasa. Now you would think that would be it for the day. Ohhhh no! About three hours later we had prime rib with all kinds of side dishes. Then if you had room there was dessert. Poor Thom had to be rolled out when it was time. I had to go and get the kids and I ready to leave for Colorado the next day. Like I said, we were blessed!
